Janelle Manahan, girlfriend of the slain actor Ramgen Bautista, has written a letter thanking Senator Ramon “Bong” Revilla, Jr. and his family for seeking justice for her and Ramgen.
Despite the tragedy, Janelle said she has not lost hope.
She is also grateful to Ram.
“To Ramgen, wherever you are, thank you for everything, for the 5 years, for teaching me and and sharing what unconditional love is,” she said.
Her father, Julius, said Janelle was told of Ramgen’s death only last November 1.
Before she learned about the tragedy, Janelle wrote a poem for Ramgen:
“Same characters, same plot
Different stories, different setups
My days and nights have been like this
Thinking what could have I done differently so
None of these exist
I wanna cry, I wanna cry so bad
But what’s the point
When there’s no UNDO button
To make it all alright”
Julius Manahan said his daughter is now recovering from surgery on her face.
She underwent facial reconstruction surgery after suffering 4 fractures on her left and right cheeks, nose and jaw from a bullet that entered just below her left eye and exited through her right neck.
Another bullet pierced her right shoulder and exited through her arm.
During her surgery, doctors attached titanium metal plates on Janelle’s left and right cheek. Bone grafts from her right rib were also placed on her jaw.
Doctors also attached a brace that will lock her jaw.
The operation would require her to be on liquid diet for 6 to 8 weeks.
She will be undergoing therapy and counseling after the surgery.
“Tinanong siya nung doktor kung kailangan niya ng psychiatrist, sabi niya hindi na raw,” Janelle’s father said.
He said they have not discussed the case yet, but said Janelle knows that Ramgen’s sister, Ramona Bautista, has left the country.
She has yet to see the video message made by Ramona.
Janelle’s doctors said despite the wounds in her face, they are confident they can restore her looks.
“Ang sabi nila magkakaroon lang ng scars pero magagawan daw ng paraan,” he said.
Janelle was a member of ABS-CBN’s Star Circle National Teen Quest in 2005. She made it to the top 10 of the reality talent search.
She later appeared on ABS-CBN sitcom “Let’s Go” and was nominated as Best New Female Artist in the 19th Aliw Awards.
Depending on how fast her wounds heal, Janelle needs to stay in the hospital for 7 to 10 days more before she can go home.
